
Hundreds of viewers are turning their back on the latest search for British singing talent, The Voice UK.
But this has nothing to do with Tom Jonesâ exasperating name-drop-a-thon.
Viewers are tuning into the BBC1 show â sofas rotated 180° – in a bid to mimic the chair-swivelling action of the âcoachesâ on stage and enhance their viewing experience.
On the show, aspiring warblers belt out their best to the back-turned chairs of Jessie J, Will.i.am, Danny OâDonoghue and Tom Jones â who will only rotate their chair if they are suitably impressed.
The DIY technique was mentioned by presenter Tim Lovejoy on Channel 4âs new Sunday breakfast show Sunday Brunch and was met with enthusiasm on Twitter.
One tweeter said: âThis is such a genius idea â Iâve been watching with my eyes closed but this is much better. Just need to buy a swivel chair!â?
Meanwhile ex-England cricketer, Michael Vaughan (@VaughanCricket), expressed his desire to get involved with the trend: âAnyone thinking of buying me a Xmas present this year I would like one of the chairs of The Voice… #cheersâ?
The Voice is up against Saturday night giant, Britainâs Got Talent, and faces a has thus far emerged victorious in the twenty minute overlap between the two shows. Around 9.6million people tuned into The Voice, while only 7.5million remained loyal to Simon Cowellâs BGT.
