X Factor? It’s Marcus vs Little Mix

One-time favourite and one-trick pony Janet Devlin returned to her tiny village this morning after being the latest act booted from the X Factor, leaving Marcus Collins, Amelia ‘Lazarus’ Lily, Misha B and girl group Little Mix racing to make the final in two weeks time.

But although four acts remain in the competition, the bookies seem to be convinced that this year’s X Factor is a two-horse race. The best odds you can currently get on Marcus taking the title are 6/4, with many betting firms only offering a miserly 11/8. Little Mix are just behind and sit on 6/4 with most bookmakers.

Amelia Lily looks to be the favourite to join them in the final, but her odds average out at 5/1, with Misha B trailing at 9/1.

Little Mix have already made it further than any girl group in the competition up to this point and look to have a promising career ahead of them after impressing in recent weeks. If they don’t win the competition then they might take solace from the the fact that JLS came second a couple of years back and have achieved great success since.

There was some mild controversy last night after Kelly Rowland abstained from the decision between her two acts, thus consigning Janet to the exit, but with Gary Barlow revealing that he too would have sent the Irish singer home, it was academic. After getting a royal slating from the Take That man (who branded her ‘boring’), Devlin can’t have been surprised by his decision.
