Charles Dickens’ 200th birthday might not be until February 2012, but we all know that Christmas and the author go together like the poor Victorians and the workhouse, so the Beeb are shwoering us with Dickensian drama this month. The centre-piece of the many TV and radio programmes will be the three-part adaptation of his serial novel, Great Expectations. Telling the tale of Pip, Miss Haversham and a load of other fabulously named characters, this one is due on Monday 27th, with the next episodes coming over the next two evenings.
