Video: Gervais Defends Globes Performance On Piers Morgan

It’s fair to say the Hollywood establishment weren’t too pleased with Ricky Gervais after his performance at the Golden Globes, but the British comic defended himself on Piers Morgan’s new CNN show by insisting that they should have known what they were going to get when they hired him. “Like I’m going to go out there and not talk about the issues in their industry. Don’t forget, I’ve got to be an outsider there. I mustn’t come out there as everyone’s mate and schmooze. That’s nauseating. I’ve got to come out there and I’ve got to roast them,” he told his countryman. Gervais confirmed last week that he would be making a cameo appearance as the original David Brent in the American Office’s final episode.
