In the fourth part of the Yesterday channel’s Spirit of 1940s series, we’ll get to hear about the Heroes of Biggin Hill in order to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. This documentary shows us the war through the eyes of the soldiers who fought it and who defended the Biggin Hill airbase in Kent.
Hitler targeted the base in 1940 and it drew heavy fire when one of Germany’s goals was to eradicate all British airbases. For all their bravery and resillience, those serving at Biggin Hill suffered heavy losses as Hitler’s campaign continued and this film tells their tale.
