John Whaite rose to the occasion to win the final of The Great British Bake Off. The law graduate made his case to win the show with a heaven and hell inspired chiffon sponge, whilst fellow finalists Brendan and James fell at the final hurdle with a twee âFamily Reunionâ cake and a confectionery-based ode to the Union respectively. Expect this not be the last we hear of John either, with the 23 year old having agreed the inevitable book deal, and having the potential - according to Max Clifford at least - of earning half a million quid by the end of the year. That is, of course, âif he takes the right advice.â? In any case, that should be enough dough (sorry) to see him through his planned training in Paris.
