Doctor Who writer Russell T. Davies presents this new drama about a dystopia, not-to-far away future Britain. It begins in the present day, following the Lyons family where Rosie (Ruth Madeley) has just given birth. Meanwhile in the outside world, populist politician Vivienne Rook (Emma Thompson) causes a national scandal on life television. As the family wonder what the future will hold, we move forward to 2024. As Rook is becoming increasingly popular across the country, things become increasingly troublesome for the Lyons family. One member, Bethany (Lydia West), with her loving integrating humans with technology, declares herself “transhuman”. Meanwhile gay married Daniel (Russell Tovey) is falling in love with a Ukrainian refugee. Years and Years is on BBC One at 21.00.
