Miriam Margolyes is admittedly terrified of death, and confronts her fears in this two-part documentary. In this opening episode, Miriam visits a dementia care home and meets a couple where one of the residents had a stroke six years ago. Despite this the love in their relationship is still strong. Later Miriam travels to America, where people are trying to come up with cures for again and possibly of ways of “defeating” death. Miriam also visits one of a “Blue Zone”, one of five places in the world where people live longer. This place is Loma Linda, near San Diego, where many strict Seventh Day Adventists believe their religion is part of the reason for their longevity. Miriam’s Dead Good Adventure is on BBC Two at 21.00.
