Channel 4's new three-part drama anthology, On The Edge, serves up a raw slice of ordinary life in modern Britain placing the focus heavily on the country's justice system with each episode looking at it from different perspectives; a convict, a witness and a victim. The programme - a part of the network's 4stories initiative - is comprised of the work of three up-and-coming female writers and young directors from different backgrounds as part of the channel's pledge to find diverse debut drama talent. The first of the three episodes - followed directly by the second on the same channel - is titled "Through the Gates" and tells the story of a young offender, Aimee, and her disillusioned parole officer, Tessa. Aimee's short adult life has been spent in and out of prison while Tessa finds herself confined to a life of organised chaos under her boss, Mark. Both women are trapped in lives of turmoil and cycles they cannot escape from but can they find freedom by working together? On the Edge - Tuesday 10:00pm on Channel 4.
