Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham is one of the busiest A&E departments in Europe. In this episode of 24 Hours in A&E, we follow the stories of three wives and the life journeys they’ve had with their husbands.

Mick is rushed to Queen’s with suspected sepsis. As doctors try to undercover what’s causing this life-threatening condition, we hear from the 74-year-old ‘s wife as she tells what it is like to be his full-time carer.

Fifty-eight-year-old Keith arrives with a fast heart rate. As medical staff urgently try to bring his heart rate down, his wife talks about bringing up deaf children and being diagnosed with the ‘deaf gene’.?

And 61-year-old Jillian has come into A&E after a fall following a fundraising evening for the hospital. She recalls when her husband was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.
