Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate star in writer-director Adam McKay’s comedy sequel. It’s 1979 – five years after the events of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy – and moustachioed newsreader Ron Burgundy (Ferrell, who also co-wrote the script) is married to co-anchor Veronica (Applegate) and working for an upmarket New York news network. When big-shot anchor Mack Tannen (Harrison Ford) retires, naming Veronica as his successor and sacking Ron, Ron abandons his wife and their young son, and heads home to San Diego to lick his wounds and wallow in misery. When he’s offered a job at the world’s first 24-hour news network, Ron gets his old team (played by David Koechner, Paul Rudd and Steve Carell) back together and turns a graveyard slot into a massive hit by pandering to the lowest common denominator. Fame and fortune follow, but danger looms in the form of arch-rival Jack Lime (James Marsden). Can Ron save his career and his marriage, and also a random shark?
