Preview: FIFA World Cup 2022: England v USA

FIFA World Cup 2022 - England v USA

Group B, Kick-off 7.00pm

All eyes turn on the Al Bayt Stadium tonight as England play USA with the prospect of securing qualification for the knockouts with a win.

Having smashed Iran 6-2 on Monday, Gareth Southgate will be determined to push his side on and eliminate any sloppiness and complacency as they look to seal top spot.

These two sides have met twice in this competition before, with England still looking for a first win over the USA. Having seen Wales come a cropper this morning vs Iran, the importance of remaining composed in possession and clinical in attack could not be greater. The US side come into the tournament not in the greatest form but with athleticism to burn and players of the quality of Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), Gio Reyna (Dortmund), Antonee Robinson (Fulham) and Leeds duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson this is England’s toughest group stage game.

Mark Pougatch hosts the coverage with Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Ian Wright providing studio analysis and Laura Woods and Karen Carney pitch-side insight. Commentary from Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon, with Gabriel Clarke reporting.
