Escape to the Chateau at Christmas reaches its festive conclusion as Dick, Angel, Arthur and Dorothy prepare to celebrate a family Christmas inspired by a very special part of France, Colmar in the Alsace region, close to the German border.
Here they discover an enchanting medieval town that makes Christmas feel more magical than ever. It’s not long before they’re taking part in a festive treasure hunt, sampling the local baked delicacies, trying their hand at fondue, and – in the surrounding foothills – discovering the amazing ice and crémant wines that the region is synonymous with; and that Dick and Angel can’t resist trying!
Back at the chateau, the Strawbridge traditions are not forgotten, as Angel, her mum Jenni and Dorothy head out into the chateau grounds to collect the fir and foliage to make the annual Christmas wreath. The huge Christmas tree that lights up the salon is decorated, and this year Angel can’t resist adding her specially made macramé baubles.
Once the kids have written their Christmas list for Santa, Dick, inspired by what he’s seen in Colmar, starts creating Christmas dinner with a twist. Soon the chateau is bursting with joy and laughter as all the family, including Jenni and Papi Steve, celebrate this magical, festive season together.
Escape to the Chateau at Christmas – Sunday 19 December at 8.00pm.
