Broadcaster and national treasure Sandi Toksvig sets out on more glorious adventures across the country, accompanied by some of the nation’s most fascinating and funny women. Travelling to awe-inspiring locations in search of Britain’s most extraordinary escapes, Sandi and her companions have been gifted the keys to some of the very best holiday digs – properties built to make the most of the stunning landscape on their doorstep. From a glorious renovated off-grid home on a remote Scottish island, and an astonishing cantilevered home over a river near the Brecon Beacons in Wales, to a stunning architecturally extended mill keeper’s cottage, complete with windmill, deep in the Norfolk Broads National Park, every episode explores a different region and promises lots of adventures along the way. Coupled with plenty of hidden-away places offering glorious sanctuary and quiet time, Sandi takes the opportunity to get to know her guests a whole lot better. In this last episode of the series, Sandi treats comedian and self-confessed city girl Jenny Eclair to some extraordinary escapes in Wales, the Wye Valley and the glorious Malvern Hills. Starting in the wonderful Wye Valley in Herefordshire, Sandi and Jenny take a hand-pulled ferry across river to their first hideaway: an amazing century-old, flatpack house that sits high up on a hill, with views to die for – or to paint, in Jenny’s case. Throwing her in at the deep end of her countryside encounter, Sandi takes Jenny canoeing along the River Wye. Crossing the border into Wales and to the edge of the Brecon Beacons, the pair visit an astonishing architectural feat – a home which, thanks to its to cantilevered living room, seems to hover over the waters of the River Ysgir. Indulging in the sounds of nature, Jenny warms to outdoor life and is even tempted into foraging for cocktail-making ingredients. For their final home away from home, Sandi takes Jenny back over the border to the majestic Malvern Hills. Staying in a converted fruit store that oozes creativity, Sandi sends Jenny on a wood-chopping mission, before the pair head out to the ancient orchard to pick some apples to munch on with their local cheese and cider. While Sandi takes the girl out of the city, can she take the city out of the girl?
