Film of the day: An Inspector Calls

An Inspector Calls

Multi-channel TV can be a bit of dick when it comes to finding something different to watch. Everyone has a set few channels that they gravitate towards and rather than channel hop we miss out on some cracking content. This week, there been some excellent vintage movies including The Third Man with Orson Welles and Jamaica Inn with a cracking turn from Charles Laughton.

Tonight, it’s the turn of TCM to take up the mantel with the 1954 classic An Inspector Calls

The suicide of a young woman is the tapestry on which this JB Priestley mystery is played as an inspector (Alastair Sim) is sent to investigate a prosperous Yorkshire household.

Methodical sleuthing from the brilliant Sim uncovers the guilty secrets of the middle class household.

An Inspector Calls – Tuesday at  8.15pm on TCM.
