Director James Gunn unleashes the galaxy’s most dysfunctional band of superheroes for a second round of cosmic adventures as Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) join Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill (AKA Star-Lord) mess up a routine job and find themselves on the wrong side of Elizabeth Debicki’s golden-skinned warrior nation and are forced on pain of death to flee across the cosmos.
Fate intervenes to prevent them from being atomised and wouldn’t know Peter comes face-to-face with his long-lost father, Ego (Kurt Russell). But is Ego as benevolent a father as he presents himself to be?
A sequels go, Vol 2 is a triumph with much more humour and opportunity for other guardians to develop their characters. Great fun!
