Twenty years after the first alien invasion, and the invasion of Independence Day into seemingly every cinema in the world, Roland Emmerich presents his sequel to the 1996 blockbuster.

Two decades have passed, and the nations of the world have co-operated with each other to build defences against any further extra-terrestrial events. Humanity has made shields and weapons out of lost alien tech, and have fortified the moon as a breakwater against alien threats.

Dr David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) returns and discovers distress signals sent from the initial incursion to a colossal mothership. This time the invaders are determined to finish the job they started, by any means necessary.

Starring Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward.
