Natalie Portman portrays Jackie Kennedy in the days following the assassination of her husband, President John F Kennedy, as she strives to deal with the extremes of private grief and the public eye in this powerful biographical drama.

In Dallas, Texas, on 22 November 1963 the 35th president of the United States of America was shot dead in an event so momentous that an entire generation say they can remember where they were when they heard the news and that has since spawned endless conspiracy theories that echo through history and culture.

But easy to forget in all this is the woman who watched in horror as her husband slumped into the interior of the 1961 Lincoln Continental. The woman who had to deal with the personal trauma while trying to limit the damage that this event would undoubtably do to her family, including their two young children.

The woman who had to face the public at a time when all anyone would want is to lock themselves away. That woman was Jackie Kennedy and this film attempts to look at this monolithic historical event from her perspective, the private grief and the public courage
