Australian director George Miller’s pioneering work of post-apocalyptic moviemaking stars Mel Gibson as the eponymous ‘Mad’ Max Rockatansky – an ex-police officer turned vigilante in the harsh post-disaster world.

Also starring Joanne Samuel, Hugh Keays-Byrne and Steve Bisley. Max is a cop-turned-vigilante in a world following societal collapse; he pursues and is pursued by the sadistic and dangerous ‘Toecutter’ (Keays-Byrne) and his ruthless biker gang.

It set the stage for the Mad Max franchise to skyrocket, and showcased the stunt work and practical effects that the series has become famous for.
