If you liked Silence of the Lambs, you’ll love Michael Mann’s stylish 1980s psychological thriller, Manhunter.
Based on Thomas Harris’s Red Dragon, William Petersen (Grissom from CSI) plays Will Graham, an FBI agent (and predecessot of Clarice Starling) whose obsessive pursuit of a serial killer brings him back into the orbit of a certain institutionalised Dr Hannibal Lecktor.
Brain Cox plays the mind games as a suitably aloof Lecktor, offering snippets of information to Graham, the man who put him behind bars, while also encouraging his prodigy to kill more.
Stylish and disturbing with a particularly fine performance from Tom Noonan as the outsider/sociopath whose mental degeneration is never over-played.
Manhunter – Tuesday at 9.00pm on Sky Cinema Thriller.
