In Joseph Kosinski’s fact-based drama, Josh Brolin stars as Eric Marsh, firefighting chief in his town of Prescott, Arizona, and keen for his crew to be upgraded to ‘hot shot’ status. This means more responsibility in fighting the increasingly common wildfires.

After an incident where a Californian ‘hot shot’ team overruled Eric’s correct prediction about a wildfire, resulting in massive damage and loss of life, Eric is furious and argues his case at a dinner party with the local division chief (Jeff Bridges).

Suddenly Eric finds himself promoted to the position he’d wanted, but with the wildfires getting larger and more dangerous, Eric and his team might have under-estimated the potential of the blazes.

Also starring Jennifer Connelly, Andie MacDowell and Miles Teller, the film takes the time to give thanks to the hardworking and brave firefighters that are laying down their lives to protect against the increasing threat of climate change.
