Sometimes the best thing to do on a Friday night is to disengage the brain and watch something so pathetically juvenile and stupid that you wake on Saturday feeling rejuvenated and purged of all the frustration of the working week.
So why not give Sausage Party a try? It is definitely all of the above – with the added spice of being super crude to boot. This is an adult animation set in a US supermarket where the hot dogs, buns, fruit and other produce eagerly await the fourth of July celebrations in the belief that some great new truth will be revealed to them – which, indeed, it is – they are all going to suffer horrible deaths in the mouths of the humans. Cue panic!
There’s lots of strong crude sexual language and innuendo and visual gags but if you can get past that this is a really enjoyable romp. Voice cast includes Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, James Franco, Salma Hayek, Michael Cera, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill.
