Nikolaj Costa Waldau, after finding fame as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones, dons the mantle of Jacob Harlon – a Pasadena-based stock broker who is charged and jailed for driving under the influence of alcohol and thereby causing the death of another driver. Co-starring alongside Waldau; John Bernstal plays an affiliate of the Harlon’s while he’s in prison, Kate Bell who becomes Harlon’s wife and Omari Hardwick who plays Jacob’s savvy parole officer, Ed Kutcher.

After accepting a plea deal that would have seen him serve a 16 month prison sentence in a low security Californian prison, Harlon is forced to make a choice that has far-reaching consequences when a plea for protection brings him into contact with a branch of the Aryan Brotherhood. As he slips further and further into a criminal lifestyle inside the jail, Harlon’s actions see him become a fully-fledged member of the brotherhood, being transferred to a maximum security prison where he meets the gang’s shot caller, known as “The Beast”. As he finds himself increasingly out of his depth and torn between his allegiances to the brotherhood and his desire to escape it, Harlon hatches a cunning plan to break their hold over him while also keeping his family from harm.
