Way back in 1990 the TV adaptation of Stephen King’s thriller It scooped a couple of Emmys and ingrained itself on the consciousness of a generation of kids who still have nightmares about creepy clown characters. Interest in the misdeeds of Pennywise has been rekindled with the cinematic reworking earlier this year, but this longer form adaptation is the superior of the two if not just for the work of Tim Curry as the wrong’un in the clown suit.
The story begins in a 1960s American small town where a number of children mysteriously vanish and a group of friends set out to discover their fate. But their search unearths an ancient evil that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
