Colin Trevorrow directs this thoughtful thriller hybrid, with Naomi Watts starring as single parent to stocktrading, treehouse-building child prodigy Henry (Midnight Special’s Jaeden Lieberher) and playful kid brother Peter (Jacob Tremblay from the brilliant, Oscar-winning Room).
The former, who is just 11, discovers that his neighbour and classmate is being abused by her seemingly untouchable cop stepdad (Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris), but tragedy strikes before he can put his meticulously crafted plan into action. It’s all in the titular book, though, so it falls to Watts’ grief-stricken Susan to finish the job.
The Book of Henry – Saturday 6 January on Sky Cinema Premiere and Sky Cinema on demand.
