James Wan takes the reins in his 2016 sequel to Chad and Carey Hayes’ paranormal horror flick, The Conjuring. Reprising their roles from the first film as paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren – who’s purportedly real-life stories of hauntings inspired the Ammityville Horror franchise – respectively, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga tackle the Enfield Hauntings in 2016’s The Conjuring 2.
While investigating the Amityville murders and subsequent haunting, paranormal investigator, Lorraine Warren is confronted by ghostly nun figure who shows her a vision of her husband being impaled in the house’s basement. After investigating the disturbing cases of the Perron and Lutz families, Lorraine and her husband, Ed, travel to a quiet area of North London where they have been summoned by a family who claim their daughter has been possessed by spirits that inhabit the house. In what would later become known as one of Britain’s most notorious hauntings – The Enfield Haunting – the two demonologists find that the spirits haunting the London house are merely pawns and they have, in fact, been lured to the house by a far more malevolent force.
