Film of the Day: The Sense of an Ending

The Sense of an Ending - Charlotte Rampling Jim Broadbent

Adapted from Julian Barnes’ award winning novel of the same name, The Sense of an Ending is an emotionally compelling story told through key events in Tony’s (Jim Broadbent) life from his first meeting with his childhood love, to meeting her family and reflections upon his school friendships.

Spending most of his time with his happily ex-wife Margaret (Harriet Walter), and single, pregnant daughter Susie (Michelle Dockery), it is clear that Tony is not spending his days how he might have dreamed and the arrival of a diary – bequeathed to him by his first love’s mother – reopens memories of guilt and betrayal.

Overall this is a touching story that highlights the importance of love, family and memory.

The Sense of an Ending – from Monday 14 on Sky Store.
