In this Marvel-but-not-MCU anti-hero film, Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who becomes the host for a super-strong alien symbiote. Can he prevent a billionaire called Carlton Drake (played fantastically evil by Riz Ahmed) from destroying countless lives as a result of his warped ambitions in space?

Eddie battles the symbiote as it tries to eat everyone it comes across, and he must teach it that only ‘bad guys’ are on the menu. It is almost a comedy, with long hilarious sequences of Eddie arguing with himself, accidentally sending people flying, and getting such a big appetite that he ends up in a lobster tank in a fancy restaurant.

Director Ruben Fleischer has made a superhero film that is nothing like any others. People seem to either love or hate Venom (a bit like marmite) but one thing is guaranteed; there’s nothing else like it.
