Dispatches goes to a school in Luton, as lockdown ends and schools reopen their doors to children. The pupils face much more serious problems in their daily lives than anything on the curriculum.

Luton is one of the most deprived wards in Britain, and we witness first hand the trouble faced by children there. Three boys from one class reveal the long-term implications of lockdown on young children, especially for the 1.5 million of them living in England in overcrowded and unsuitable housing.

As winter draws closer, rising gas prices, the end of universal credit uplift, furlough and more inflation, life to come in Britain will only get poorer for millions of kids.
