Jessica Rothe stars as a college student caught in a Groundhog Day of death as she relives her own murder over and over until she identifies her killer, in Christopher Landon’s comedy slasher flick. It’s Friday 13th. It’s also Tree Gelbman’s (Rothe) birthday. She wakes up hungover in fellow student Carter’s (Israel Broussard) bed with no memory of the night before, and he’s looking a bit shifty. She bumps into some guy who she’s been on a date with and insults his manhood. She’s given a cake made from scratch by sorority sister Lori (Ruby Modine), which she immediately bins. Basically, she’s kind of mean to everybody. But then some weirdo in an angry baby mask rocks up and kills her buzz by killing her. The end? Oh no. She wakes up. And gets killed again. And so on until she realises that the only way to stop dying is to identify her killer. Problem is, it could be anyone. Hate birthdays? This’ll put them in perspective.
