Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer help more people make the decision to spruce up or sell. Our homes are the most important investment we’ll ever make but no one can predict what the future holds. As priorities change and our wallets show the strain, more of us are thinking differently about how and where we live, but that doesn’t always mean we feel the same as our partners. So, for those at stalemate over whether the right home for them is the one they’re in, or just a move away, it’s time for Kirstie and Phil to step in.
In this episode, Kirstie and Phil meet Heather and Tim in Lothianburn, south of Edinburgh, where the future of their seven-acre property is causing conflict. After meeting and bonding over a love of horses, Tim soon moved into Heather’s four-bedroom home. But it wasn’t until their daughter was born that the issues in the house really began to surface.
Tim hates the dysfunctional layout, lack of storage and the inadequate space for working from home, and dreams of a more rural lifestyle in the Scottish Borders. However, having put a lot of time and money into the outside of their home, Heather isn’t ready to leave and believes, with Kirstie’s magic wand, they can make the inside work much better. She enjoys living close to Edinburgh and worries that they won’t be able to replicate the space for their animals if they move.
While Kirstie deals with a monumental curveball that threatens to derail her build, Phil has a long and tricky shopping list for the property search. It won’t be easy for either of them to pull off, but when the dust has settled, who’s round will it be at the bar?
