Sophie Morgan goes on a road trip across the UK to meet people united by a desire to build new lives around the things they love. This time, Sophie travels to the geographic extremes of the UK. First to the Cornish coastal town of Falmouth, where Jade and Brynn live a life that, in theory, is financially beyond them, having swapped minimum-wage jobs for a life at sea on their own sailing boat. In the heart of their own Devon woodland, Pete and Anna explain how they achieved their ambition to live closer to nature by running a charcoal burning business that allows them to live on agricultural land. Sinead and Adam moved to Sussex to start their own edible flower farm business just a few weeks before the pandemic. The experience has tested them in every way but, as Sophie discovers, it’s given their lives fresh purpose. In Cheshire, Joanna has found a way to combine home with work, opening a floating salon on a barge. And on Gometra, one of the remotest islands in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides, Sophie meets the island’s population of three, and experiences the way of life for Andy, Yvette and their daughter Katy, who live entirely off grid without access to power. The family take Sophie to the island’s shallow waters as they forage for crab and scallops, followed by a candelit supper.
