Thursday night Premier League footie on the box tonight as Sky bring all the action from Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad.
Despite racing out of the blocks in August, Manchester City have been uncharacteristically sloppy this season and lag behind leaders Arsenal by eight points – not that much should be read into that half-way through the season. As the old saying goes: ‘it’s a marathon not a sprint’, and City are relentless when the business end of the campaign arrives.
Spurs, well, where to start? They are the enigma of the Premier League – they can be sublime one week and abject the next. As a squad there is nothing wrong with them, they’re great – fantastic individual talent and solid collectively, but something is way off its axis. Yet as fragile as they are, they remain ahead of top 4 rivals Liverpool and Chelsea.
On paper, you’ve got to say three points for City. However, back-to-back defeats in the League and EFL Cup (and a lull in the prodigious goal output of a certain Norwegian striker) make this a slightly more difficult game to call.
For Tottenham to pitch up at the Etihad and roll the champions over would be the most Spursy thing so far this season.
