Series 1, Ep. 2/6 – Out And Proud?
Cara Delevingne is one of the world’s most photographed people and an award-winning LGBTQ+ icon.
On this immersive journey, she puts her mind and body on the line in search of answers, donating her orgasm to science in Germany; making art from her vagina in Japan; hitting up a women-only sex club; taking a masturbation masterclass, and visiting an “ethical” porn set, in the name of understanding our deepest desires. In every episode, she shares her own personal experiences. Uniquely unfiltered and authentic, there’s no limit on how far Cara’s willing to go to explore what makes us all human.
Cara grew up feeling ashamed of her sexuality, but now she wants to be out, loud and proud. By exploring the science of sexuality and meeting other queer people from across the world, she hopes to learn to accept who she is.
In Palm Springs, Cara parties at the biggest lesbian festival in the world: The Dinah Shore Weekender. Reveling with over 15,000 women, trans and non-binary people in the Californian desert and judging a twerking contest, Cara describes how freeing it feels to be accepted as herself in this safe space.
Unpicking the various types of sexual orientation, Cara heads to London to learn more about queer identities and better understand the ‘labels’. Psychologists and Sexologists answer questions about what shapes sexual orientation, and Cara is reassured to learn that sexual orientation isn’t a choice.
In the Netherlands, Cara takes part in an experiment at a sex laboratory to learn about the spectrum of sexuality and whether the pornography you are most aroused by mirrors your sexual orientation.
She meets an out-and-proud gay Buddhist Monk in Japan, who teaches her that being happy within yourself gives you the resources to help others.
In Germany, she meets refugees rebuilding their lives with cabaret and attends her first ever Pride in Tokyo. Cara describes how she feels she has missed out by not being part of the queer community, and that she is now inspired to fight for what she believes in.
