Film of the Day: Planet Terror

Rose McGowan in Planet Terror

Zombie action-horror from writer-director Robert Rodriguez and co-producer Quentin Tarantino.

In rural Texas, the release of an experimental biochemical weapon causes people to mutate, eventually turning them into flesh-eating zombies. The film follows a group of ragtag survivors, who are not only up against the deadly creatures, but the rogue military unit that bears responsibility for the outbreak, headed up by Lieutenant Muldoon (Bruce Willis).

Among the group of survivors is dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) and her ex-boyfriend El Wray (Freddy Rodriguez). As they make their escape by car, they crash and Cherry’s leg is torn off by zombies. Later, the pair, along with others taking shelter at a restaurant, decide to head to the Mexican border to escape. Action ensues as the group are detained, lives are lost and Cherry’s wooden leg is replaced with an assault rifle.

Will anyone avoid mutation and make it to Mexico? With Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton, Jeff Fahey and Michael Biehn.
