Jock Stares

Once passed their 70th birthday, motorists are required to apply for a new driving licence every three years but are not necessary re-tested. This three part documentary takes to the road with a number of mature drivers to see if they’ve got what it takes to be considered a ‘safe driver’.

Tonight we meet 102-year-old John Errol Manners, from rural Wiltshire. A Royal Navy veteran who is quite relaxed about his date with destiny, Jock Stares who travels around the Valleys on his trusty scooter and 93-year-old Jack Hearn who makes it clear that he has no intention of failing his assessment.
