Patients of all ages are rushed to St George’s hospital in south west London. This week, the award-winning series focuses on some of the youngest patients arriving at A&E. In pain and scared it’s up to the doctors and nurses to provide comfort for them and their families.
Tonight eight-year-old Billy is rushed to St George’s after being crushed by falling bricks on his front drive. Accompanied by his dad Shaun, Shaun describes the horror of hearing his son scream and rushing out to find him crushed. He has fractured his femur and faces emergency surgery.
We also meet Six-year-old Luther who has a metal washer stuck on his finger. Tracy, a senior healthcare play specialist has the job of distracting Luther as doctors prepare to cut through both sides of the washer. She talks about the importance of her job and the relationship she has with patients.
Finally 83-year-old Audrey pays a visit to A&E with her grandson Lee. She has damaged her wrist falling on holiday and reflects on her relationship with her Grandson and tells us how she has come to rely on him after losing her Husband.
