The second series of the US documentary in which Sheriff Jamey Noel of Clark County, Indiana, continues his unprecedented programme to root out crime and corruption in his jail – by planting civilians as prisoners to tell tales.
In the second episode, another three new participants – Chris, whose brother was incarcerated; Brian, an attorney for the Department of Corrections; and new mother Ashleigh, who is a recovering addict – enter the programme, while the others fight for acceptance in their pods. And one participant is dragged into a confrontation that quickly turns physical.
It’s gratuitous and doesn’t attempt to look at the root of offending of those inside. This is like Daily Mail TV where the only good outcome is when the civilian volunteer is able to point out wrongdoing or is freed leaving the nasty convicts to do their bird alone.
60 Days in Jail – Monday at 11.00pm on Channel4.
