There are plenty of documentaries that tackle sensitive subjects, but this one covers a subject that is still somewhat taboo: terminal illness.

Created by Sue Bourne, A Time to Live follows 12 people who have been diagnosed with a range of terminal illnesses, who talk about how they are spending their remaining time in this world. There is anger, sadness and frustration, but the main thing that comes up is a form of liberation. They know that they are dying, so they are trying to enjoy what time they have left.

“Inspiring” is perhaps a bit of a cliché to describe this programme, but sometimes they are the best.

A Time to Live is on BBC Two at 21.00.
