Russell T. Davies adapts John Preston’s political thriller.
The story is based on the true-life story of Jeremy Thorpe (played by Hugh Grant), leader on the Liberal Party in the late 1960s and most of the 1970s. He was also gay at a time when being gay was a crime, and fell in love with stable hand Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw). However, the relationship collapsed and he was determined to stop any news of the relationship entering the public domain.
