The clergy of the Hereford Diocese are working hard to bring a bit of warmth into people’s lives as winter approaches. In Shropshire Matthew Stafford, partly informed by his own experience is finding new ways to meet the needs of his aging congregation.
With a father-in-law in local care, he also visits a couple with dementia, aiming to make the church more accessible and accommodating to those with cognitive disorders. It is being there day-to-day for the local community that brings Matthew the most joy and purpose.
Father Matthew Cashmore’s situation is the total opposite as he caters to the young population in Hereford, taking care of the people who might have gone too far on a heavy night out.
Vicar Nicholas keeps a check on the elderly in his scattered Black Mountains parish, and visits a local lunch club initiative that has been a smash-hit in fighting loneliness and isolation.
