Based on the book of the same name and also featuring testimony from people at the time, this drama documentary follows the real-life story of campaigning gay journalist Peter Wildeblood.
The story is told over several years, mainly focusing the Montagu Trial. During this trial Wildeblood, Conservative peer Lord Montagu, and landowner Michael Pitt-Rivers, were all found guilty of committing then illegal homosexual acts and were jailed. However, the public thought that the trial was unfair, and thus the government was forced to set up a committee that would eventually rule in favour of the decriminalisation of homosexuality.
Daniel Mays plays Wildeblood, and the show also stars Mark Gatiss and Richard Gadd.
Against the Law is on BBC Two at 21.00.
