Preview – America’s Cup

Ben Ainslie

The America’s Cup, awarded in the sport of sailing, is the oldest international sporting competition, having first taken place in 1851.

Despite all the years it has taken place, a British team have never won the trophy. Sir Ben Ainslie is hoping to be the first, with his Royal Yacht Squadron club taking part. They will be challenging against the current champions, the Americans and their Golden Gate Yacht Club.

Also taking part in the competition in Bermuda are teams from Sweden, New Zealand, Japan and France, who will all be sailing at up to 60mph.

America’s Cup is on BT Sport 1 at 18.00.
