Channel 5’s new crime/ police documentary follows the lives and stories of a number of Britain’s armed police officers, who speak freely for the first time on camera about the cases and incidents they remember the most. The documentary sheds light upon not only the captures of suspects but also the behaviour of the officers involved while coming under fire from some of the country’s leading police department for its “shocking” title.
The debut episode last week centred on the stories of the officers responsible for bringing down wanted fugitive Raoul Moat. This week explores the moment officers committed the first-ever shooting by specialist units in the UK in a standoff on Christmas Day, while elsewhere it follows the story of a siege in Hackney that became the longest in British police history. Plus, the story of Britain’s last aeroplane hijack reveals the dramatic moments when the whole operation teetered on the brink.
