After his somewhat controversial music video, “This is America”, made headlines last week Donald Glover – also known by his stage name Childish Gambino – is thrust back into the limelight as his comedy-drama series, Atlanta, debuts on BBC2. Though the series has already commenced its second season in the US, the BBC’s broadcasts will cover the show’s first season, with two back-to-back episodes every day for the next week.
Earnest ‘Earn’ Marks is broke and is struggling to co-parent with his ex-partner, Vannessa, so when he learns that his cousin is close to rap stardom he sees an opportunity. Earn approaches his cousin Alfred – an upcoming rapper known as Paper Boi in the music industry – about managing him on account of the fact that he has the connections to make them both big.
