Having reached the first round of semi-finals two teams of professional pastry chefs now go head to head to battle it out for a place in the final.
With just three hours on the clock, the teams must make six exactly identical and multi-layered circular sharing dessert or crown entremet. The deserts must incorporate a variety of flavours and textures whilst still producing a delicious and complimentary pudding. At the same time as producing their show stopper, the chefs must also prepare the elements needed to perform a spectacular piece of gourmet theatre known as live table plating, under the watchful eyes of the judges.
For their second challenge, the bakers are set with producing a jaw-dropping sugar showpiece, along with three types of delicious confectionery – 240 sweets in total – all reflecting the theme of an English country garden.
When each sugary delight has been sampled, the scores are given and one team will be sent home – their dreams broken into as many pieces as their sugar work.
