Kenneth MacMillan was one of the most important figures in British ballet.
This documentary profiling his career looks at his work on stage when he was a dancer, and backstage when he became the principal choreographer of the Royal Ballet until his death in 1992. Included in this programme are performance footage and family home movies, as we look not only at his work, but his own private struggles with anxiety, alcohol and depression.
Ballet’s Dark Knight: Sir Kenneth MacMillan is on BBC Four at 21.00.
