ITV’s latest lavish costume drama takes us back to late-18th century India.
Tom Bateman stars as John Beecham, a man who was formerly a soldier in the notorious East India Company, but who has since left and has decided to set up his own, fairer business. He sets up his HQ in Delhi, but he soon encounters other problems. Namely, he has to hide a child of mixed parentage.
Arguably the biggest issue facing the series is that ITV have scheduled it opposite the BBC’s Gentlemen Jack in the schedules, so expect a ratings war to unfold.
Beecham House is on ITV tonight and tomorrow at 21.00.
