Part of Channel 4’s “Fifty Shades of Gay” season (why it’s named after a heterosexual erotic novel I don’t know), a number of famous faces look at some of the most important places in the UK’s LGBT history.

The show is hosted by Stephen Fry, but he is just one of the noted celebs to star in this show, which sees Simon Callow visiting the Old Bailey where Oscar Wilde was put on trial for his homosexuality, the Heaven nightclub as chosen by pop star-turned-vicar Richard Coles, and Mary Portas goes to Shibden Hall in West Yorkshire, the home of Anne Lister, a women who wrote about her lesbian desires in a coded journal.

Other places featured include the Theatre Royal Haymarket and WWII code-breaking centre Bletchley Park.

Britain’s Great Gay Buildings is on Channel 4 at 20.00.
