Chris Evans stars as the eponymous superhero in his first modern blockbuster film as a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Joe Johnston, the 2011 comic book adaptation also features Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones and Hayley Atwell.
With the majority of the world in the throes of the second world war, runty city boy turned army conscript Steve Rogers finds himself selected for a classified government programme which aims to turn mere men into supersoldiers. Following the procedure Rogers emerges a much changed – more so physically than mentally – man, now donning the mantle of Captain America.
